"Looks solid but for the price - 1st trip with it the logo sticker already came off"
"As an owner of Pelican cases for well over 15 years and countless flight miles with both big and small cases I went back to Pelican to supply me with a different kind of case. This is not like the older models this is a lighter construction cases. At first this was a worry but it’s been engineered to be lighter for the application I needed it for. If you need a rooftop overlanding case then this is one I went with because of my trust in the company that has proven their worth. I went with this case to minimize added weight to the vehicle. I went with the case for its design for my application. It’s just one less thing to worry about. Case 4. 9 stars , locking roof rack accessories to mount the case to the roof is 4. 5 stars. Pricing is competitive enough. This case is being used to store tools, compressors to save interior space. It would be a perfect 5 stars if it came with interior padding options and if the accessories weren’t so spending in comparison to the case. Highly recommended"
"The overall case seems to be well made for molded plastic. Could be a bit thicker in areas. The design appears to be more like a case and less like the vehicle storage box it is marketed as. Instead of a few closure latches there are many that all need to be opened and propped out when closing it. Though the design does secure the lid well. The rack mounting hardware accessory is another story and leaves much to be desired. For the high price I was expecting something better and easier to install and use. It is designed for a slotted rack only (Prinsu, etc) or round bars (addition accessory). And not for any other type like a bed rack. I made it work but required a bunch of extra hardware. For the price this should be included. Also the alignment and installation of the box into the mount is finicky. It’s easy to get the rear bracket misaligned and jammed. Paint also gets scraped off. As far as locking the system, it could be better. Padlocks work but I found that they have to be short or they dont work. Standard 1. 5” high shackle could not be installed. Again for the price a better locking system is expected. Padlocks a bit primitive for this type of product."
"First thing the pelican box is strong well constructed. Second I love how I can secure it to my roof rack to make theft hard. Most important it looks great on my truck. It was the final piece to complete my truck. To be able to carry all of my wife and mine dive equipment without filling up the bed of my truck. Thank you pelican for making an awesome box."
"I have an OEM roof tack on my 2023 defender. The Pelican and Land Rover marketing shows that this cargo case fits with this vehicle in many marketing materials. Turns out though that the mounting system is not compatible! After a trip to Lowes, I got metal plates, washers and nylon-insert lock nuts for all four mounting brackets and rigged a compression mount to the cross members on the roof rack. This solved the problem and created a secure cargo box, but it was a major effort to engineer this solution. Considering the Pelican marketing showed a Defender with this exact case and the case w/ mounting kit were almost $1000, the solution should not have been this hard. Further, I called Pelican customer service twice to get an answer and they never got back to me either time after promising to do so. If you have a Defender, this system will not fit unless you figure out a solution. I got it to work but with a great deal of problem solving and effort. Over all terrific case once I got it mounted! Good Luck!"
"Bought to add ‘staple’ storage for multi week trips in the Storyteller. Mounted with the Pelican Kit and it sits solid, close to the same height as the A/C. Lots of places to lock it closed as well as the need to lock the box to the van itself. Seals up tight in the sun and no leaks after traveling in snow storms and other highway and off highway driving. All good"
"Bad design of the hinge support So easy to hurt yourself while loading stuffs."
"This case is awesome! We purchased it to hold all of our water heater hoses, gear, and our shower tent for our overland trailer. This case holds all that and has space for a lot more! It was one of the only cases we could find that was long enough and deep enough for everything. The quality of this Pelican case is noticeably higher than the roam case we have on the vehicle. The lid is much higher quality and the size is perfect. We should have went Pelican from the beginning and definitely will from now on."
"Perfect size to carry my camping gear. With the additional roof top mounting hardware, easy the load and unload the container. Negative; high price"
"Case is of good construction however lid should be reinforced so that center does not droop. I assume this is not an issue with the smaller size cases in this lineup. Due to the massive size of the BX140R the lid should have been built with more rigidity to account for this. Functionally the case is strong and serves its purpose but aesthetically, for the price, the lid should be perfectly flat. Sagging in the center of the lid gives the appearance of a cheap product rather than the robust, weatherproof, durable case that it is. Additionally, for the price, and functionality, the lid should have gas assist struts. Good quality and good looking case otherwise."
