"This carry on fit every single category I was looking for except for one Expandibility - the protective but flexible cover of this Carryon allows an overpacker like myself to overstuff with no worry in the world. There are multiple straps throughout the bag that allow you to squeeze everything nice and tight. Tons of space. Much much more space than the atx roller carryon. Durability - this is a pelican product, very little to say here. The cordura fabric does take on marks quite easy but that doesnt bother me. Wheels - very high quality, smooth rolling wheels that are large. However, I still wish this bag had the roller wheels like that atx Carryon. But I do understand why they designed the product the way they did If you need a lot of space in a Carryon, want the durability of a pelican product, and can get past the two wheels instead of four. Then this is the perfect product for you. I absolutely love it"
"Heavier than expected but well built. Should survive even rough handling. The design is what I’ve been looking for."
"I really like quality products and this bag did not disappoint. Large wheels make rolling a breeze. Looks like it will be the last bag I have to buy."
"So about the only feature that I feel requires improvement is the zipper function for the main flap. It is a bit difficult to close the zipper around the corner of the duffel -even when its empty. For a $300+ carry-on, this function should be smooth as silk to close."
"Five stars. Absolutely, unequivocally, five stars. Yes, the Pelican bookbag is expensive. There, I said it. Lets get that out of the way. If youre looking for a budget-friendly way to carry your books and laptop, this isnt it. But if youre looking for a bag that will outlast you, protect your valuables from the apocalypse, and adapt to any situation you throw at it, then the Pelican is not just a purchase, its an investment. The quality of this bag is on another level. Its not just ""durable,"" its over-engineered. The materials are top-of-the-line, from the rugged, water-resistant exterior to the meticulously stitched seams and heavy-duty zippers. The bag feels like it could be dropped from a plane or run over by a truck and still emerge with your laptop and lunch intact. The hard-shell protective compartments are the real game-changer. They provide a level of security that no other soft-sided bag can. Its the kind of quality that gives you peace of mind, whether youre commuting through a crowded city or hiking in a downpour. What truly justifies the price, however, is the flexibility and adaptability. This isnt just a bookbag; its a modular system. The main compartment is a blank canvas, ready to be organized exactly how you need it. The genius of the design lies in the customizable internal dividers and MOLLE panels, which allow you to reconfigure the interior for a camera, a drone, or a change of clothes. All of which I have used the bag for. The external straps and lash points mean you can attach anything from a tripod to a jacket, expanding the bags capacity without adding bulk. Its a bag that grows with your needs. Need to carry textbooks and a laptop for class? No problem. Packing for a weekend trip? Its ready. Heading out for a photo shoot in a rugged environment? The bookbag can be transformed into the ultimate protective gear case. This adaptability means youre not just buying one bag; youre buying a versatile tool that can replace multiple bags and adapt to any lifestyle. The Pelican bookbag is not for everyone. Its for those who demand the absolute best in protection, durability, and functionality. It’s a premium product with a premium price tag, but it’s a purchase you will never regret. The quality is unmatched, the flexibility is a godsend, and the peace of mind is priceless. This is more than a bookbag—its a trusted companion for all of my families adventures. No pelican did not pay me or ask me to review this. If it was hot garbage, I would have said that without hesitation. I stand by this review."
"Solid comfortable secure zippers are easy to use . I use this bag a lot and definitely recommend it"
"Soft shell is more ridged than most carry ons and it is very sturdy."
"Somewhat heavy for a carry-on bag. The main zipper is hard to operate and doesn’t work well if you have the bag nearly full. The clips add an added step that is unnecessary and laborsome. I tried to return the bag but I was just a few weeks out of my return window even though I barely used it. I wouldn’t recommend this bag to anyone."
"I used Pelican cases for 20 years in the Army. Whatever they sell are a pale comparison. This doesn’t even have any padding. It’s just a shell. I can buy the same thing from REI for half the price and be able to return it. Terrible product."
